David Lloyd Raynes Park Celebrates Tennis Victory

David Lloyd Leisure’s Raynes Park club is celebrating championship success after its young tennis players won a prestigious national league competition

The club won the 14s and under boys’ category in the AEGON Team Tennis finals, held recently at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton – narrowly defeating David Lloyd Leisure Southampton club’s team.

The victors comprised Nick Nugent, Omari Owens-Maxwell, Paul Monczakowski, Freddie McGeehan and Alex Roszkowski, led by coach Ronnie Maxwell.

David Lloyd Raynes Park was one of five winning teams representing Europe’s premier racquets, health and fitness group, who qualified from the South-East. David Lloyd Raynes Park was also runner-up in the 12s and under boys’ contest.

The success follows the victory of David Lloyd Raynes Park men’s team in the finals of the AEGON Team Tennis tournament, held in Bournemouth. The squad included several current and former world-ranked players.

They were David Rice, Marcus Willis, Jamie Feaver, James Marsalek, Lee Childs, Neil Bamford, Tom Burn, Colin Beecher, James Lloyd, Tim Patient, Matt Leahy, Glen Kumah Minta and captain Johnny Barr.
